Our Water Supply Is Vanishing - cheap and unclean water stance

As a group we are focused and committed to educate our fellow classmates on what is happening to
Earth's water. This subject should be taken seriously and should spark a need to become active in

finding solutions to this crisis. Water is a vital necessity not only to human life but to animals and

nature as well. We cannot survive or grow without water thus, it is important that we are all educated
and are in understanding on this matter so that we can change our water footprints and stop this crisis.

According to the documentary Blue Gold , "..water has been a facet of ritual, a place of gathering and

the backbone of the community." Our group aims to convey that without water there is no life and

without life we have nothing. This Earth will perish and all life will cease. According to the USGS

( Science for a Changing World ) , " There is only 2.5 percent of the world's water left that is clean

and drinkable. Seventy percent of that is solid ice. While, only 0.08 percent of that water actually

makes it to our faucets." This is highly alarming and should be addressed, we as a whole need to take

both responsibility and initiative to change this stance of our water supply. Overall as a group our

stance is to educate our classmates on what is happening to our water due to population growth,

pollution, global warming and privatization.

Three Things I Am Interested In ..

I am interested in various topics that Hartmann sheds light on throughout his book however, the topics that interested me the most are Don't " pay as you go " , unsafe drinking water and aquifers.
The Don't " pay as you go " theory is discussed on pages 20-22; " Investor's lost everything they'd put in because the owners sucked their assets before they began to support themselves. " (22) Unsafe drinking water is discussed through pg(s.) 98-101 ; "..groundwater's around the world are now being found tainted with broad variety of drugs. " (100) Lastly, the Aquifers are discussed in pages 92-96 ; "Some aquifers have been permanently damaged because full recharge of depleted aquifer storage will not be possible where compaction and subsidence have occurred.

Climate Change

I recently watched Global Warming Fact or Fiction? via TedxColumbus. This talk was conducted by David Bromwich he provided intriguing factional details of climate change and the main factors of climate change increase. During the talk Bromwich shared that , " it is likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid 20th century. " Climate change has occurred from both human and natural sources. It High Co2 is also affecting our oceans; increase in dissolved CO2 in surface water is leading to acidification in oceans throughout the world, which is causing major impact in the oceans. It has also been found that sea levels are rising at 3 millimeters a year ! Also, the melting occurring on polar ice cap sheets are contributing as well to the global sea level rise. The most dramatic changes to the climate system are occurring in the coldest regions of the world.

3-5 Topics I Would Like To Research

After reading both part one and two of The Last Hours Of Ancient Sunlight, written by Thom Hartmann, I have decided that I would like to learn more about Collapsing Aquifers, the " little ice age " , gaining by consuming and deforesting.
